Are you using videos in your Spring courses or activities that need captioning?
Do you have ideas for creating original video or digitizing video for your curricular or co-curricular activities?
For captioning, please submit your requests via the Help Desk (http://helpdesk.gallaudet.edu). There are no costs to your department for captioning. Captioning projects are accepted on a first come-first served basis with a limit of 90 minutes of captioned video per project. Because the rights clearance and transcription processes can take some time, please give us several weeks notice to serve your captioning needs.
For media production projects, please submit your requests via email to jim.dellon@gallaudet.edu until January 15, 2004. After that date, a new web-based request form and a new email address will be available for both captioning and media production projects. This year, we are accepting media production projects on a "rolling" basis--at any time you wish, rather than having a call for projects at specific times. The "rolling" basis will allow you to submit ideas as you develop them.
We are particularly interested in building an archive of campus lectures and special events that can be preserved for future courses, recruitment, and institutional archives. Please keep us informed about your plans for guest lecturers, class projects, and other unique activities that should be captured on video. A sample list of projects completed to date is available at http://webcast.gallaudet.edu (click "Archived Webcasts").
For media production projects related to courses, co-curricular activities, and student services, the only costs are for materials (e.g., videotape stock) and outside services (e.g., interpreting, voice-overs). For media production projects for externally-funded grants and projects outside of Academic Affairs, there are additional costs for staffing and studio time. Media production projects are evaluated on a resource allocation and scheduling basis. The sooner you make your requests, the better we can serve you.
NOTE: Clerc Center media production projects are managed centrally by the Clerc Center Management Team. Please submit all production requests through Margaret Hallau. Captioning requests for Clerc Center classes may be submitted directly to the Help Desk.
For future reference, this email is available at http://academic.gallaudet.edu/ATnews.
