Family Involvement Categories
General Family Information
This section is for everyone who is interested in family involvement where there is a deaf or hard of hearing child in the family. The information contained in this area includes family needs and priorities, ideas for family activities, IEP processes, family education programs, and other related topics.
I Just Learned My Child Is Deaf
This section includes information about children with hearing loss. The information includes a variety of topics that parents, family members, educators, and other professionals will find helpful in their search to learn more about children and hearing loss. This site attempts to present a general set of differing perceptions about educational options, language development, parenting deaf or hard of hearing children, and audiology-related topics at the time that a child is identified as having a hearing loss.
Family-School Partnerships
This section covers topics related to family-school relationships, the experiences of various schools in their family-school collaborations, program initiatives for establishing family-school collaborations, parent-to-parent support systems, and research findings on family-school relationships.
Legal Issues
Parents and professionals who work with deaf or hard of hearing children and schools need information regarding legal issues surrounding IEP's, child's rights to sign language interpreters in the classroom and outside the classroom, cochlear implants, and other medical-related issues.
